It has been a while since I have read a book that did what the cover promised. Jesus Manifesto has helped restore the supremacy and sovreignty of Jesus in my life. Sweet and Viola have a unique writing style making some of the most thick areas of theology very palatable.
I was recently asked by a friend, “Why don’t we have any crosses hanging in our church buildings?” This is not the first time this question has been asked. This is the answer I always give;

Do you see your life as a story or more like a math problem? Who are the main characters? What is the crisis and plot? Who is the villian? Who’s side are you fighting on? What would you write into it if God gave you the quill?
What are the things you need to do, daily? Make a list; toiletries, breathe, dress (if you are going out and don’t want arrested), eat and drink (eventually but not daily), anything else? List the things you have to do. Consider the things God says happen and should happen daily.
